The Place: Club Lucky Restaurant, Chicago IL
The Art: "Bottled Sunshine" Limoncello label
Today we're taking a trip back to summer, and out of the studio! In Chicago's Bucktown neighborhood, Italian restaurant and lounge Club Lucky boasts a supremely tasty menu. But in the beverage department, they shine with a seemingly endless bar and thirst inspiring cocktail options.

Limoncello is made by zesting lemons into grain alcohol and letting the peel steep until that rich, yellowy color permeates. Sweetened with simple syrup, limoncello has the tartness of lemon and richness from the oil of the skin, without the sour acidity of the flesh. Club Lucky makes their limoncello in individual batches, and the flavor is fresh, sweet, and strong. In the Lemon Drop Cocktail, with Absolut Citron and adorable pink sugar crystals, a girl can definitely understand why they have coined the term, "Bottled Sunshine", to describe this sunny, lemony liqueur.
I created the design with Dr. PH Martins Watercolors, and some tiny paintbrushes on Bristol Board. Unlike watercolor paper, Bristol is less absorbent, so the watercolor dried with hard edges around the wet stains, which I love, instead of watercolor's usual soft feathering and blending.
It might be winter out there but try having happy thoughts of summer n' sunshine!
